Friendly Fits Origins
Friendly Fits began as a grade-nine entrepreneurship project shared by a few friends. We started with blank Walmart T-shirts, a design we were excited to bring to life, and a lot of enthusiasm, but none of us knew how to stitch it onto fabric. With the generous help of a friend’s grandparents, who printed the designs for us, we focused on what we did know: sharing our idea and connecting with our school community.
After months of preparation, we launched at a school gathering and made just over $200 in a single evening. It was a small beginning, but it gave Friendly Fits its first spark. When our class ended, we moved on to high school and the business was put down for a long time.
Now, in late 2026, I’m bringing Friendly Fits back to life online. I’ve always dreamed of creating a shop of my own, and this is the moment I’m finally making it happen. What began as a humble school project has grown into a new chapter, built on creativity, determination, and the belief that great ideas are worth revisiting. I hope that eventually Friendly Fits will be able to bring smiles to people's faces as it once did.
At the heart of Friendly Fits is a deeper commitment, to protect the wildlife and natural world that shapes so much of who we are. A portion of every purchase goes toward conservation efforts and causes that give back to the earth and the communities that depend on it. Because building something meaningful means caring about what we leave behind.
About Me
My name is Mathew Holzapfel, the co-founder of Friendly Fits. At 19, I'm building the brand I've always dreamed of, one shaped by movement, self-expression, and the belief that what you wear should feel unmistakably your own.
I grew up moving between provinces and cities, living in an RV park with my parents. Strathmore, Alberta became the place I returned to most, a small town near Calgary where I found lasting friendships, community, and the confidence to create. That nomadic upbringing taught me how to adapt, keep moving, and find a sense of identity wherever I was.
After years away, I'm bringing Friendly Fits back online for its next chapter. Designed for people who move differently, our pieces are made to carry your individuality with confidence, clean, expressive, and rooted in the energy of the street.
Today, I'm based in Central Alberta, building Friendly Fits into a brand that can travel with me while creating a future with more freedom, purpose, and stability. Every piece is part of that journey. Every purchase would mean the world to me, thanks for being here at the beginning.
